The name of the device can differ bases on the kernel or driver used for the serialport.
In Linux everything is a file, a serialport is found under /dev/ directory. All serialports are treated the same way inside Linux, the difference between RS485 and RS232 is difference in wiring and are not usually relevant from a programming perspective.
